A long-awaited dream is one step closer to becoming reality.

After years of planning, fundraising, and incredible generosity, Lamu Center for Preventative Health (LCPH) is preparing to launch its first Dental Health Program. Our container of donated dental equipment is expected to arrive in Mombasa on July 5, 2026—a major milestone in our journey to bring quality dental care to Lamu County.

For many people in Lamu, access to dental services is extremely limited, often requiring long and costly travel to receive care. Our goal is to change that by providing affordable, high-quality dental services close to home.

As we prepare for the arrival of the equipment, we are also training a local dental assistant to help build a sustainable program that will serve our community for years to come.

This exciting initiative has been made possible through the extraordinary generosity and dedication of Dr. Rick Davidson and his daughterHank CampbellIllinois State University student volunteers, and Drake Zimmerman. Their partnership, along with the support of many donors and friends of LCPH, is helping make this dream a reality.

While the journey isn’t over yet—and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a smooth arrival in Mombasa—we are filled with hope and anticipation. Soon, LCPH will be able to offer dental care alongside our medical, laboratory, and eye care services, bringing us one step closer to our vision of comprehensive healthcare for the people of Lamu.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project. We look forward to sharing updates as we prepare to welcome this new chapter in LCPH’s history.
