Medical Services

Our Eye Care Program offers screenings, treatments, and education on eye health. We aim to prevent and manage visual impairments, ensuring everyone receives quality care regardless of their financial situation.
Lamu Center for Preventative Health provides free, high-quality healthcare to underserved communities in Lamu County, Kenya. Our medical clinic and laboratory operate six days a week, delivering comprehensive primary care, preventive services, chronic disease management, maternal and child health, laboratory testing, and health education.
In 2024, we cared for a record 9,036 patients—a 21% increase from the previous year—and continue to serve an average of 45 patients every day. Through the dedication of our local staff, volunteers, and supporters, we are expanding access to compassionate, culturally responsive healthcare for those who need it most.

Eye Care Program

LCPH is committed to restoring sight and preventing blindness through free community eye care services. Every two to three years, our volunteer eye clinics bring together local and international volunteers to provide comprehensive eye exams, glaucoma and vision screenings, treatment for common eye conditions, and free prescription eyeglasses.
In July 2026, our volunteer team is scheduled to serve 500 patients across Lamu County. This year’s clinic is made possible through a generous donation of eyeglasses from the Lions Club of Canada, helping bring the gift of sight to patients who otherwise may not have access to vision care.

Dental Health Services

Expanding access to dental care has been a long-standing goal of Lamu Center for Preventative Health. We are proud to announce that our dental equipment is scheduled to arrive in Mombasa on July 5, 2026, marking a major milestone in bringing much-needed dental services to Lamu County, where access to dental care is extremely limited.
As we prepare to launch this program, we are training a local dental assistant to help provide sustainable, community-based care. This initiative has been made possible through the generosity and dedication of Dr. Rick Davidson and his daughter, Hank Campbell, Illinois State University student volunteers, and Drake Zimmerman, whose partnership and support are helping make quality dental care a reality for the people of Lamu.
